The Vesta Colony was Earth's first attempt to colonize a planet.

The Vesta Mission was to colonize Vesta, a planet in the Epsilon Eridani system. Funded by AeroTech Industries, the mission launched from the Frances R. Scobee Colonial Launch Center, Corpus Christi, Texas in 2063.[1]
Vesta Colony settlement
250 humans from Earth established a settlement located in a clearing of a lush tropical rain forest. The colony ship was converted into a storage warehouse and a group of pre-fab Quonset huts were arrayed around it, partially buried to provide stability and protection. The colony has sixteen rovers, one of which was non-functional and used for parts.[2]

Two months after landing and establishing the settlement, the colony was attacked and destroyed by Chig fighters and ground troops.[3]
